Administrative Computing Service Changes
As various services are moved off of the Typhoon server, the host names for these services are also changing. These changes will require users to specify a different host name when connecting. If a user already has shortcuts, favorites or a profile created in their file transfer software (i.e., Fetch, FuguSFTP, Terminal for Macintosh or SSH Secure Shell), then this would require modifying the connection configurations to reflect the new host name as well.
In order to aid users in determining where their previous services are now located, a list of the old and new host names are listed on this status page, along with the dates the changes became in effect, and contact information for that particular service.
Host Names/URLs
Human Resources Information System (HRIS) - For File Transfers ONLY
- Old host name: acis.as.cmu.edu port 1302 or unix.andrew.cmu.edu
- New host name: ac-files.andrew.cmu.edu
- Effective as of: July 13, 2009

SIS Non-Captive Users making file transfers
- Old host name: acis.as.cmu.edu port 1302 (using your Typhoon password)
- New host name: sis.as.cmu.edu port 22 (using your Andrew userID password)
- Menu item location change:
- Old location: on the Main Menu, users used to select "#9 Non-Captive Access" followed by "#9 Typhoon"
- New location: on the Main Menu, select "#4 Student System Menu" followed by "#9 Non-Captive SIS Access"
