Mac OS X 10.6 — Snow Leopard

Support Approach

Since the Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard release on August 28, 2009, Computing Services has been in the process of evaluating our core software and services for compatibility.  At this time, Snow Leopard is NOT supported by Computing Services.

As software and services are evaluated, updated information will be posted to the campus community.

Upgrade Information

If you plan to upgrade an older machine, first discuss it with your departmental administrator or DSP consultant.  The following is required to upgrade to Mac OS X 10.6:

  • Mac computer with an Intel processor
  • 1GB of memory
  • 5GB of available disk space
  • DVD drive for installation

For specific machine requirements, see Apple's Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard Technical Specifications.

Campus users currently running Leopard, who are interested in moving to Snow Leopard, may purchase a copy from the campus Computer Store for a price of $29.  We suggest contacting your departmental administrator or DSP consultant, if applicable, before moving.

Core Software & Services Compatibility
