Schedule for Wired Network Upgrades

Computing Services is upgrading the wired network backbone to a 10 Gigabit Ethernet. In addition, several campus buildings will also have their links transitioned to 10 Gigabit.

Core and Border switches will be upgraded during Saturday maintenance periods with little or no impact to services. These switches are redundant, so no outages should be experienced by end-users.

Upgrades for building aggregation switches will require a brief outage to the building's wired network (approx. 10 minutes).  Computing Services will upgrade building links during early morning hours (6:00-6:30 AM).

Wireless networking will not be impacted during any of this work.  Refer to the schedule below for building upgrade details.

If any of the building upgrades impacts a previously scheduled event or activity, contact net-eng@andrew.cmu.edu.
