Cyert, Hunt, Wean, West Wing Clusters Updated
WHEN: Fall 2007 semester
WHAT: Cluster improvements in Cyert, Hunt, Wean, West Wing
In April of this year, Computing Services announced their plans to make significant improvements to the computing clusters in Cyert Hall, Hunt Library, Wean Hall 5201/5203, and West Wing over the summer.
Our most dramatic changes are taking place in the newly remodeled West Wing Collaborative Cluster, which is due to open in September 2007. This Linux-focused space will include a "stop-in" area for quick access to printing, email checking and scanning; improved furniture layout that accommodates group work; and ample power and data connections to ease laptop usage.
These improvements will provide greater flexibility and availability of Mac, Linux, and Windows computers for students using the clusters for coursework, as well as for faculty using clusters for teaching. For details on the progress of these improvements, please visit http://www.cmu.edu/computing/clusters/.
Computing Services continues to work with faculty and students to develop future improvements to our computing clusters. If you have any questions or comments, please send email to clusters@andrew.cmu.edu.
