Protect Your Computer and Know the Rules
At Carnegie Mellon, we strive to provide a safe and secure computing environment for the campus community and recommend that you follow safe computing practices. Using a computer that does not have the latest patches and/or is not running appropriate anti-virus software leaves it vulnerable to infection and may result in it being removed from the campus network. To avoid this situation, visit the FirstConnect site and follow the Secure Registration steps. When you arrive on campus, you can use Quick Registration to connect to the wireless network.
The Carnegie Mellon Computing Policy and supporting guidelines have been established to assure balanced access to resources. To avoid infractions and possible loss of network connectivity, review the complete list of policies and guidelines.
Remember that you are responsible for the content and actions of your computer! Pay particular attention to the Bandwidth Usage Guideline and the Copyright Violation Guideline.
