Connect to the Network

When you arrive on campus, visit http://www.cmu.edu/computing/firstconnect/ to connect to the campus network.

Secure Your Computer Before You Connect!

Using a computer that does not have the latest patches and/or is not running appropriate anti-virus software leaves it vulnerable to infection and may result in it being removed from the campus network. For steps visit http://www.cmu.edu/computing/firstconnect/ and then select Secure Your Computer.

Mobile/Network-Enabled Devices

Computing Services also supports registration, basic connectivity troubleshooting and email configuration for mobile and network-enabled devices. So, go ahead...connect your:

  • Tablet (e.g., iPad, Kindle, Nook)
  • Smart phone
  • iPod Touch

For support information, see the Mobile Device Support Statement.

When connecting, please don't:

  • Use your smart phone as a wireless hotspot.
  • Create an ad-hoc wireless network.
  • Download or share software, music and movies illegally.

Know the Rules

Remember that you are responsible for the content and actions of your computer/mobile device!
