Network Technical Services

Computing Services offers a number of technical network services to the campus community; these include:

• Internet Connectivity - all about bandwidth, the GigaPOP, Pittsburgh SuperComputing center, and the Internet2
  
• Network Monitoring System (NetMon) - provides real-time and historical view of the network
• IP Multicast – share a video/audio stream
• Domain Name Service – lookup services for campus-connected hosts
• DHCP Service – dynamic host configuration protocol
• Network Time Service – date and time service
  
• Network Statistics - statistics recorded from various devices and hosts on the Carnegie Mellon network
• Ping / Traceroute Gateway - finger user accounts on systems at Carnegie Mellon
• Network Speed Testing Service - test your network speed; used for reporting network performance problems with on campus wired network connections
