Repair Request

Before phoning in a request for repairs, please walk through the Troubleshooting Checklist to verify that the problem with your phone cannot be easily resolved.  If none of the checklist items helps you to resolve the problem, please provide the following information when you call the Telecom Service Line (412-268-8500) to request repairs.

  • Alternate contact name:

  • Set type (Comdial, Meridian) :
  • Type of problem ( e.g., static, no dialtone, etc.):

Troubleshooting Checklist 

Static heard on sinle line set (Comdial, M9316)

  • Verify that the connections are tight at the outlet and set.
  • Verify that the connection to the receiver is tight.
  • Try another set if available.
  • Disconnect any other equipment (e.g., answering machine, etc.)

 Line dead or no dialtone on single line set (Comdial, M9316)

  • Verify that connections are tight at the outlet and set.
  • Try another set if available.
  • Disconnect any other equipment (e.g., answering machine, etc.)

Single line set not ringing (Comdial, M9316)

  • Check control on bottom of Comdial set.

Static heard on Meridian Business set

  • Verify that the connections are tight at the outlet and set.
  • Verify that the connection to the receiver is tight.

Line dead or no dialtone on Meridian Business set

  • Verify that the connections are tight at the outlet and set.
  • Check to see if all numbers on the set are dead. 
Display or speaker not working
  • Verify that the power cord connection is tight at the wall outlet and phone.
  • If the power cord is plugged into a power strip, confirm that the power strip is on and operational.

Answering machines

  •  Telecom does not service answering machines. Contact the retailer or manufacturer of the device for repair information.
