About the Student Advisory Committee (SAC)
The responsibility of the SAC is to solicit and articulate the student body's computing needs and perspectives, so that Computing Services can make better decisions about how to allocate campus-computing resources. Students in the SAC also carry information about Computing Services' initiatives out into the campus community.
The SAC meets once a month during the academic year with Computing Services staff members who make decisions about:
- Andrew Services (AFS, Cyrus, Andrew Calendar, Webmail, the CMU Portal)
- Campus printing
- Computing Services documentation (online and off)
- Cluster ergonomics
- Hardware & software in the clusters
- Network access and usage policies
Recently, the SAC has had impact on projects such as:
- The West Wing Collaborative Cluster
- University Center Web Stations
- University IT Strategic Planning
- Changes to the Student Information System
