Configure CMU-SECURE - Managed Computers

(Connect 1 of 2)

  1. From the System Tray, click the wireless icon. If you don’t see a wireless icon, click the arrow to expand the system tray.
  2. Select Open Network and Sharing Center.

  3. Click Add and then select Manually create a network profile.
  4. Enter the following:
    • Network name: CMU-SECURE
      Must be in all caps.
    • Security type: WPA2-Enterprise
    • Encryption type: AES
    • Start this connection automatically: checked
  5. Click Next and then Change connection settings.
  6. Select the Security tab and verify the following:
    • Network authentication method: Microsoft Protected EAP (PEAP)
    • Remember my credentials for this connection: NOT checked
  7. Click Settings to add the external root certificate.

  8. Select the following:
    • Validate server certificate: checked
    • Connect to these servers: checked and then type wireless.cmu.edu
    • Trusted Root Certficate Authorities: AddTrust External CA Root
    • Authentication Method: Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)
  9. Click Configure.

  10. Uncheck Automatically use my Windows logon.
  11. Click OK to close the open the windows and then click Close.
