Clear Network Name Cache
For help clearing your network name cache. select the appropriate operating system below.
Windows 7 & Vista
- Click the Start menu.
- In the Search dialog box, type Network.
- Select Network and Sharing Center.
- Depending on your operating system, do one of the following:
- Windows 7: Scroll down and select Troubleshoot Problems, follow any prompts.
- Windows Vista: On the left under Tasks, select Diagnose and Repair; follow any prompts.
- Quit and relaunch your web browser.
- Try to access the Internet again.
Windows XP
- Click the Start menu and select Run.
- In the Run dialog box, type ncpa.cpl and press Enter.
- The Network Connections window should appear. If your computer is plugged into the wired network, right click on Local Area Connection and select Repair. If you are using the wireless network, right click on Wireless Network Connection and select Repair.
- Quit and relaunch your web browser.
- Try to access the Internet again.
Mac OS X 10.6+
- Launch Finder.
- Select Applications > Utilities > Terminal.
- At the prompt type: dscacheutil -flushcache and then press Enter.
- Close the Terminal window.
- Quit and relaunch your web browser.
- Try to access the Internet again.
Linux
- Open a terminal window.
- Type /etc/rc.d/init.d/nscd restart.
- Quit and relaunch your web browser.
- Try to access the Internet again.
Other
Other devices will automatically clear their network name caches upon restart. Try rebooting your device. Otherwise consult your manufacturer's documentation for clearing the device's DNS cache.
