My Computer Has Been Suspended

Your computer has been suspended from using the campus network. Before it was suspended, you were sent a notification of the reason for the suspension via email.

To access your email, visit one of the public computer clusters on campus.  The reason for your suspension and the steps that you need to take to restore network privileges will be included there.

Common reasons for loss of network access include, but are not limited to:

  • excessive bandwidth use
  • violation of copyright policy
  • lack of patching for a specific vulnerability
  • virus or worm infection
  • evidence that the computer may have been compromised
  • misconfiguration of a program or service which causes problematic network behavior

Missing Software Patch Suspensions

If your network access was suspended for lack of Microsoft Windows or Apple Mac OS X patches, you can connect your computer to any active wired ethernet outlet and run Microsoft Update or Apple Software Update to fully patch your machine. Once the automated services show zero updates required, you can then follow the instructions in the suspension e-mail you received to request access restoration.

How do I use automated update services?
