Mike - there's a problem with Spotlight trying to index bboards if you use Apple Mail, but you can fix that in the advanced account settings Chris - we have 2-3 users with Mac Intel laptops, and about 10 PCs. We are looking for backup solutions for network backups. -SuperDuper (may have scalability issues) -Intego Backup x4 is also not scalable -Retrospect is good for mixed environments -Stephen - TimeNavigator - centralized backup solution, but not yet available - will be cost recovery. -More info available in affinity group notes from last time Marc - solutions for imaging multiple machines? -Jim - we're using a netboot/network image solution. It's probably not worth it for a small number of computers. -Multicasting -radmind - www.radmind.org David - notes on ADmitMac/DFS integration -crossrealm single sign-on is not working yet, but you can get around this by syncing your AD password and your Andrew password -There was a problem with passwords being sent in the clear, but the latest update should solve that -NTLMv2 Auth -Lets you use AD groups for administration, so lessens need for local admining Various applications - Marc - has a copy of Apple Remote Desktop (ARD) 3 - the Automator actions are nice http://www.apple.com/remotedesktop/ - Mike likes Launchbar, which is an application launcher (similar to Quicksilver) Jim - issues with Spotlight in clusters -If you are having issues with Spotlight in a multiuser environment, it can be shut down in /etc/hosts/config - you can turn off & on things like network mounts.
