Mulberry Self-Support June 22, 2006 SquirrelMail plugin - Computing Services is investigating a plugin that allows bboard administration via webmail - you may need to subscribe to the bboard before you are able to admin the bboard - when you bring up the list of userids & permissions, the list of permissions is not complete. Lookup, seen, add, and create are not shown. This is bad when someone has, eg, only lookup access - they'll show up with no checkboxes checked, and when you update, they'll be removed. - We are recommending that people use cyradm or Mulberry for now - zero option - if "anyone" is set to 0, that turns the information for finger on Computing Services has been sending notification email to Mulberry users. - Staff use of Mulberry has gone down over the past month. - Faculty use has not gone down. (This was expected.) Justin Dawber (ChemE) - we've been preaching Mulberry to people and now they're grumpy because they have to change. - Most of my faculty that use it only use it on campus, but their laptops they have a different client where they can download their mail quickly, or they use webmail. - "the biggest thing for me is going to be trying to sync up everyone's settings on various computers, and I'm trying to work up a user-transparent way to do this." Karl Greenley (DSP) - problems with address book translation. - You need a bracketed name next to every email address in address book exports. - If you use the Windows format as an intermediate step, that helps - Finance is a big holdout with local mail. It is taking a long time but getting done. - bboard administration is a big concern Karen - if you need a list of departmental users, ask me. We can do this and some more detailed reporting on an ad-hoc basis. We can't do it for everyone every week, though! Melanie (Libraries) - CompEd has taught 3 training sessions for Library staff - very well attended. - making specialized dlists for email so that they can give different kinds of users different levels of information Tepper - address book groups problem. The group header is treated like the name, and all the email addresses under it are treated like one address. - Some interface quirks - like someone was trying to get Outlook not to capitalize her sentences, and that's harder than it is in Mulberry Yerin - we should be able to get people flat text files of the addresses, if you are having big problems with this kind of thing. Gretchen - The Help Center has been seeing a lot of "outlook and entourage are not mulberry" complaints. - Getting a lot more Outlook and Entourage questions in general Searching problems - Karl - sentmail searching - people want to search by who they sent TO, and Outlook doesn't like to do that. Select all messages, download marked headers, and then you can search. Karen - you can set send/receive groups to cache or not cache and sync or not sync things. Tepper - Can we syncing the Outlook calendar with Oracle calendar? - Oracle Connector is available, but it is not scalable or supportable, and it has problems
