Carnegie Mellon's Campus Computer Recycling Program

Old computing equipment, particularly CRTs, can contain as much as 9 pounds of environmentally hazardous lead. The EPA can technically fine the university as much as $10,000 for every computer monitor their investigators might find in our dumpsters. CMU’s Environmental Health and Safety group ensures that university departments properly dispose of hazard materials.

Don’t toss your old equipment in the dumpsters -- let the EH&S group pick it up and take it away for proper disposal.

Learn about up to date computer recycling options for work and electronics recycling at home. We are hoping to host Dell’s event this summer, June 12th, for recycling personal computers and electronics. Dell will also come to your home and pick up personal computing equipment for about $7 bucks.
