Tamper Protection

The Tamper Protection feature protects SYMANTEC applications from being modified by worms, Trojan horses, viruses, spyware and adware. The Carnegie Mellon Symantec installation enables the Tamper Protection option by default.

  • Double-click the Symantec shield in the system tray.
  • From the main menu, select Configure > Tamper Protection.
  • The Tamper Protection window appears.
    • Select Enable Tamper Protection.
    • Select Block from the On violation drop-down list.
    • Click OK.

Note: You can customize the message that displays when a threat is blocked. See the Symantec online help for details.
