1.2 Use Lock Screen

In the previous section, you configured the screen saver to lock the computer after ten minutes or less of inactivity. At times, you may want to manually lock your computer. Use the steps below to add Lock Screen to the Menu bar and manually lock your machine:

1. Open Applications > Utilities (Finder window) and double-click Keychain Access.
2. From the Keychain Access menu choose Preferences.
3. In the Preferences window, select the General tab and check Show Status in Menu Bar.
   
4. Close the Preferences window and quit Keychain Access (Keychain Access > Quit Keychain Access).
5. The Lock Screen icon is now in the Menu bar.
   
   To lock your computer, click the Lock Screen icon and choose Lock Screen from the pop-up menu.
