1.5 Using Special Printing Features (optional)
Follow these steps if you are interested in adding a specific cluster or library printer(s), otherwise, continue wtih Step 2: Ordering Your Print Job.
The andrew print queue and generic driver that you installed via the steps above will allow you to print basic black and white, 8.5 x 11 print jobs to ALL public printers or tabloid (11"x17") to the CFA and Hunt clusters. Some applications and documents will NOT print properly using the central print queue. If you plan to print complex PDFs or any other Adobe application documents to the central print queue, please perform a one or two page test print first.
Some cluster printers offer special features (e.g., color printing, resolution settings, custom paper sizes for manual feeding in CFA, printer-based watermarks, etc.). If you need to use special features that some of the public printers offer, complete the following.
- Download and extract the printer driver for the specific printer you want to use. Links to the driver downloads are provided in the Printer Model column of the Windows Printer Chart.
- Repeat the steps in the Add a Printer Using the Printer Wizard page of this document. Use the information in the Windows Printer Chart to complete the prompts for the specific cluster or library printer you would like to use.
Duplex Printing for HP Printers (optional)
Important: If you are using the central print queue or the CFA Xerox Phaser color laser printer, DO NOT complete this step. Duplex printing is automatically enabled for these printer drivers.
If you plan to print to a specific public HP printer and would like to duplex print, you must enable duplexing for that printer. Use the Windows Printer Chart to determine whether the printer supports duplex printing.
- Select Start > Printers and Faxes.
- Right-click on the printer you want to duplex print to and select Properties.
- Select the Device Settings tab. Scroll down to the Installable Options group. Find the Duplex Unit entry and change this option to Installed.

- Click OK to save the changes and close the dialog box.
- If you do not want to set duplex printing as the default for this printer, your configuration is complete. You will need to request duplex printing from the Print dialog box for each duplex print job sent to this printer.
- To have your jobs duplexed by default, complete steps 5 through 9.
- Right-click the printer again and select Properties.
- Select Printing Preferences.
- Select the Flip on Long Edge option.

- Click OK to save your changes and close the Printing Preferences dialog box.
- Click OK to close the Printer Properties dialog box.
