1.5 Using Special Printing Features (optional)
Follow these steps if you need to print to a special cluster printer (color printing, etc.) otherwise, proceed with Step 2: Ordering Your Print Job.
The andrew print queue and generic driver that you installed via the steps above will allow you to print basic black and white, 8.5 x 11 print jobs to ALL public printers or tabloid (11"x17") to the CFA and Hunt clusters. Some applications and documents will NOT print properly using the central print queue. If you plan to print complex PDFs or any other Adobe application documents to the central print queue, please perform a one or two page test print first.
Some cluster printers offer special features (e.g., color printing, resolution settings, custom paper sizes for maual feeding in CFA, printer-based watermarks, etc.). If you need to use special features that some of the public printers offer, complete the following.
- Download and extract the printer driver for the specific printer you want to use. Links to the driver downloads are provided in the Printer Model column of the Windows Printer Chart .
- Repeat the steps in the Add a Printer Using the Printer Wizard section of this document. Use the information in the Windows Printer Chart to complete the prompts for the specific cluster or library printer you would like to use.
- Be sure to follow steps for adding duplex printing if you want to use that feature on your special features printer. Simply substitute the appropriate printer name in place of Andrew Central B&W.
