1.1 Install the Popup Software and Printer Driver

Note: These steps will walk you through the process of installing the Andrew Central B&W Print Queue that will work for ALL public printers. By selecting the andrew print queue, your print job will be sent to ALL public cluster and library printers on campus. You can release, print and delete your print job from ANY campus release station.
Install the Popup Software
Follow the steps to install the popup software:
- Visit the Mac Print Software web page and download the popup software AND the generic printer driver (Generic PPD).
- Double-click the Popup.dmg file to create a new disk image.
- Double-click the Popup.pkg file to run the installer. Through the process, you may be prompted to authenticate and will be asked to select the destination for the installation. When the Install is finished, close the installer window.

Install the Print Driver
Follow these steps to install the printer driver:
- Select Applications and double-click Utilities, then double-click the Printer Setup Utility.
- In the toolbar, click Add, then hold down the Option key and click More Printers...
- The Printer List or Printer Browser dialog box appears. Complete the fields as follows:
- In the topmost popup menu, select Advanced.
- From the Device popup menu, select Pharos Print Server.
- In the Device name field, type Andrew Central B&W to use basic print features for ALL public cluster printers.
- In the Device URL field, type popup://printing.andrew.cmu.edu/andrew
- From the Printer Model popup menu, select Other and browse for the generic printer driver file CMU Generic.ppd that you downloaded previously.
- Click Add.

- To print to the public cluster printer, select Andrew Central B&W from the print dialog box of any application.
- You may now eject the Popup disk image and discard the Popup.dmg file. To eject the disk image, drag Popup to the Trash.
