Mac OS X 10.6 Exceptions

The following is a list of Mac OS X 10.6 support exceptions:

Calendar

  • Oracle Calendar cannot authenticate with Kerberos. An effective workaround solution is to use standard authentication and an Andrew Calendar password instead of using your Andrew password.  For details see the Mac OS X 10.6 Andrew Calendar installation instructions.

Cisco VPN

  • Cisco VPN requires a fresh installation after upgrading to Snow Leopard.  There have been reports of it causing Kernel panics, although this error did not present during testing.

Fetch

  • Users may see a message in the console log regarding an "Invalid resource fork length".  No action is needed.

Fugu

  • Users may receive a prompt to install Rosetta (translation software allowing PowerMac software to run on Intel Macs) upon installing Fugu.

VPN (Native Mode)

  • The built-in Snow Leopard VPN networking does not work in the Computing Services environment; therefore, using Cisco AnyConnect VPN is still recommended.
Peripheral Applications
  • Some software packages may not be compatible with the new OS/browser. Upgrade decision/recommendations should be referred to the functional business group lead.

In addition to the Computing Services evaluations, a list of known incompatible software is available on Apple's website.
