IMPORTANT: Do not share copyright protected files.
Sharing Files with Other Mac Users
Use your Public folder, located in your Home folder, to share files with other people. Your Public folder is setup as read only. Others can see and copy files in the Public folder, but cannot change the content. Place the files you want to share in this folder.
Your Public folder also has a Drop Box folder. Other people can copy files to your Drop Box folder, but cannot see its content.
To share information in your Public folder, you must turn on File Sharing.
Turn On File Sharing
- Select Apple menu > System Preferences...
- Click Sharing in the Internet & Network section.
- In the Sharing window, if necessary, click the lock icon and autheticate using the administrator userid and password.
- Follow the steps for your operating system, Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard):

Select the checkbox next to Personal File Sharing.

Click the lock icon to prevent further changes and quit System Preferences.
- Select the checkbox next to File Sharing and click Options.

- Check Share files and folders using AFP and click Done.

- Click the lock icon to prevent further changes and quit System Preferences.
