Connecting to Shared Computers
To locate and connect to shared computers and file servers, do one of the following:
Browse the Network
- From Finder, select Go > Network.
- Look for the computer name. You may also need to know the network area or workgroup.
Note: If you do not have this information contact the computer owner or your administrator.
- Once you find the shared computer, select it and click Connect.
Use the Network Address
- From Finder, select Go > Connect to Server...
- In the Server Address text box, enter the IP address or hostname of the server that you would like to connect to prefixed by afp://. For example:
- If you would like to connect to the computer with the IP address 128.2.122.3, type: afp://128.2.122.3
- If the hostname of the shared computer is joeuser.mac.cc.cmu.edu, type: afp://joeuser.mac.cc.cmu.edu
- Click Connect.

Connect to Windows File Share
- Select Start > Run.
- In the "Open" text field, enter \\IP ADDRESS\SHARE NAME
