Disable File Sharing
Follow the steps for your operating system, Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard):
Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Disable Personal File Sharing
To disable personal file sharing, follow these steps:
- Select Apple menu > System Preferences...
- Click Sharing in the Internet & Network section.
- In the Sharing window, if necessary, click the lock icon and autheticate using the administrator userid and password.
- Uncheck the checkbox next to Personal File Sharing.
- Click the lock icon to prevent further changes and quit System Preferences.

Disable Windows Sharing
To disable windows sharing, follow these steps:
- Select Apple menu > System Preferences...
- Click Sharing in the Internet & Network section.
- In the Sharing window, if necessary, click the lock icon and autheticate using the administrator userid and password.
- Uncheck the checkbox next to Windows Sharing.
- Click the lock icon to prevent further changes and quit System Preferences.
Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
To disable file sharing:
- Select Apple menu > System Preferences...
- Click Sharing in the Internet & Network section.
- In the Sharing window, if necessary, click the lock icon and autheticate using the administrator userid and password.
- Uncheck the checkbox next to File Sharing.
- Click the lock icon to prevent further changes and quit System Preferences.
