Disable Peer-to-Peer File Sharing

File sharing has become a very popular pastime with an increasing amount of applications becoming available that allow users to search an entire network for files that interest them and then download those files to their own computers. Most peer-to-peer file sharing programs setup your computer to act as a server. That is why file sharing is banned on the Carnegie Mellon campus and that Carnegie Mellon affiliates are urged to stop using this type of service. In the event that you are participating in this practice, you are at risk of losing your network connection at Carnegie Mellon.

For more information on how to disable peer-to-peer file sharing, visit the University of Chicago's document entitled Disabling Peer-to-Peer File Sharing.
