Virtual Andrew for Android Devices

Note: VMWare View for Android is compatible with Android operating system version 2.2 and above. To determine your device's operating system version, touch Settings > About phone.

Install

From your Android mobile device:

1. Search for "VMware View" in the Playstore. Be sure to select the version that is published by VMWare, Inc.
2. On the VMWare View app page, touch Download.
   
3. Accept the end-user license agreement by touching Accept & download.
   

From your computer:

1. Go to https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vmware.view.client.android.
2. On the VMWare View page, click Install.
3. If prompted, log in to your Google account.
4. In the Checkout window, under Send To, select the device to which you wish to send the application (e.g. phone) and click Install.
   
5. VMWare View will install on the selected device.

Connect

1. Open VMWare View on your Android device.
2. On the Welcome screen, touch Add server.
   
3. In the Server Name or Address field, type virtual.andrew.cmu.edu. Leave the Server Description field blank, unless you wish to assign a nickname to the connection.
   
4. Touch Connect.
5. On the Connection Server screen, enter your Andrew userID and password. If not already selected, select the Andrew domain.
   
6. Touch Connect.
7. Touch Virtual Andrew. Your Android device will display the Virtual Andrew desktop and may also display basic gesture help.
   
8. After initial setup is completed, your Android device will display a Virtual Andrew icon for easy access.
