Using the LCD Projection System
The West Wing Collaborative Cluster is home to a 46 inch ceiling mounted LCD on a rotating stand. The LCD is mounted within a traditional grouping of 12 Linux workstations. There are 5 desktop (CPU) and 3 laptop connections setup to project to the LCD. The LCD is controlled by 2 panels: Panel 1 is located at the head of the workstation area near CPU 1 and CPU 2; Panel 2 is located near CPU 3, CPU 4 and CPU 5 at the other end of the workstation area near the LCD. (The CPU numbers are labeled at the top left corner of the monitors.)
Which Panel Controls the LCD Display
The panel used to power on the LCD projection system is considered the “master” panel. Only the master panel can initiate the share control feature.
How do I know if the panel I’m using is the master panel?
The following indicator lights are illuminated at the master panel:
- On button
- Share Ctrl button (on and steady)
- 2 vertical bar lights at the lower right corner of the panel
Note: The On button is also illuminated at the alternate panel. However, the 2 vertical lights in the lower right corner of the panel and the Share Ctrl light are NOT illuminated.
If I'm not at the master panel, how do I use the LCD display?
You will not be able to project to the LCD unless the share control feature is activated from the master panel. This is indicated when the Share Ctrl light is illuminated and blinking. If noone is using the master panel, turn both panels off and turn the system on from the panel you wish to work from.
Project from Desktop (CPU)
- Use Panel 1 to project from desktop machines labeled CPU 1 and 2.
- Use Panel 2 to project from desktop machines labeled CPU 3, 4 or 5.
