Q. Can I use my own equipment (e.g., hard drive) in the clusters?
A. That depends. FireWire Hard Drives can be used. For approval of any other equipment, submit a request via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to indicate the course and professor's name, device type and date needed.
Q. In which cluster can I find specific equipment (e.g., color scanner, card readers)?
A. Please refer to the cluster map and/or to the equipment list for a specific cluster.
Q. Must I have my CMU ID card with me when I visit a cluster?
A. Yes. In order to check out materials or make a reservation, you must present a valid CMU ID. If you do not have your ID with you, you may be asked to leave the cluster.
Q. What qualifications are needed to be a cluster consultant (CCon)?
A. Any student with good computer troubleshooting and communication skills. If you are interested in becoming a CCon, please apply through TartanTrak. You may also ask a CCon on-duty for more information or assistance.
Q. Can I reserve a computer?
A. Only computers in the CFA clusters may be reserved for individual use. Please see the CFA CCon on-duty to make a reservation. Note that reservations are held up to 10 minutes past the requested start time before they are considered forfeited.
Q. What is the process for reserving an entire cluster?
A. Cluster course reservation requests for any academic cluster can be made online.
