Sound available while using Document Camera

Driven by requests received from faculty this semester, the touch panels in the classrooms have been modified to allow sound to be played when using the document camera.

When you select the document camera on the touch panel you will see a selection of audio sources that are available. Simply select which source the audio will be coming from to have it play, adjusting volume as needed.

Open House on 8/23 & 8/24

WHAT: Media Technology Open House

WHEN & WHERE:     Thursday, August 23, noon-4pm, DH 1117
                               Friday, August 24, 10am-2pm, CFA 213

Several classrooms and auditoriums have been updated over the summer with new audio and video equipment. Each of the updated rooms has been equipped with a new lectern containing a touch-screen control system, document camera (which can project transparencies, pages from a book or notebook, and images of objects), DVD/CD player, and ports for laptops and other auxiliary devices.

We encourage you to think about what equipment and materials you may be using throughout the term, such as transparencies, DVDs, iPods, VCRs and laptops, and bring them with you so we can give you a live demonstration.

USB Drives in Registrar Auditoriums

DATE: Tuesday, January 30, 2007
AREA AFFECTED: Large Registrar Classrooms
SERVICE AFFECTED: USB ports

There have been reports of malfunctioning USB ports on the resident computers in the Registrar controlled large auditoriums. As a result, USB drives and mice haven’t been working.

We installed a test image on the computer in DH 2315 last night, which seems to have resolved the problem. We will be installing this image in the remaining rooms on a rolling basis, depending on classroom availability. All of the resident computers should have this image installed by the end of Friday, February 2nd.

If you have any concerns about your USB port functioning, please contact mediatech@andrew.cmu.edu and a technician will meet you before your class.
