Group Access

Many departments would like to have a departmental email address or calendar which allows access to a specified group of people. While there is no Andrew account type which allows group access, there are alternate methods to allow group access to email and calendar.

Group Access to Email

For group access to a single contact email address, we recommend the use of an email alias along with an electronic bboard. The email alias is the advertised email address for your group. This email address is then set to forward mail to the restricted bboard. This provides a single email address used to contact your group but multiple people are able to read and respond to the messages. Please see the BBoard Overview document for specific steps to create and configure an email alias and bboard.

Who is eligible: Staff and faculty can request restricted bboards and an email alias (at no charge). Student organizations should refer to Student Organization (Club) accounts.

How to request it: To request a restricted bboard with an email alias, use the instructions found in the Bboard Overview document to provide the required information to the Help Center.

Suspension process: There is no expiration or renewal process in place for bboards or email aliases. If you would like to suspend either, please send email to the Computing Services Help Center.

Group Access to Andrew Calendar

An Andrew Calendar resource account may be used as a special account for your department, club or organization. To use the account as a group calendar, the resource must be configured to allow double booking. Please see Andrew Calendar: Resource Accounts for more information on creating and using resource accounts as group calendars.

Who is eligible: Faculty, staff and student organizations may request a calendar resource.

How to request it: Follow the instructions found in the Andrew Calendar: Resource Accounts document to use the Resource Request form.
