Wireless Connection Speeds
Users with the 11Mbps cards and upgraded drivers can receive up to 11mbps throughput when in close proximity to an access point. As users move further away from an access point, the speed falls back (automatic fallback rates consist of 5.5 Mbps, 2 Mbps, and 1Mbps respectively). In addition, as a user moves across campus, the mobile device roams between access points seamlessly to pick up the strongest signal, similar to roaming on the cellular phone network.
