Kenneth J. Hallinen
Ken Hallinen is the Director of Resource Planning & Management for Computing Services at Carnegie Mellon. His areas of responsibility include handling the division's finances and overseeing both the purchasing/acquisition/contract process and the HR function for the division. The FY12 budget is 54M and is made up of general operating (31M), cost recovery (5M) and an additional 18M of project funding.
In 1983, Hallinen joined the division as a computer operator. Since that time he has served variously as shift supervisor, operations manager, budget analyst, business manager and most recently as manager of finance and planning. He has participated in various campus-wide development efforts and has written several tools to facilitate the interaction with the university's Oracle financial system for general campus use. Hallinen holds a joint appointment with the Athletics department where he has been an assistant track coach since 1989.
Ken holds degrees from Carnegie Mellon in Administration and Management Science and Information Systems.
