Charles R. Bartel

Chuck Bartel is director of Global IT Services at Carnegie Mellon.  Chuck is currently responsible for the Help Center, Desktop Support, Communication and Documentation and Telecommunication services for the campus.  In addition, he is also the Computing Services point person for the university’s new global initiatives, and oversees the division's disaster recovery/business continuity and new data center efforts.  Bartel has served as project director for the campus’ network upgrade and DSL projects. Previous responsibilities include project director for the campus’ wired and wireless network upgrades and DSL projects, computer operations, computer repair, and retail store and classroom technology.

Chuck has served on the EDUCAUSE Evolving Technologies committee as past chair.  He was a member of the EDUCAUSE 2006 Program committee and a voting member of the IEEE 802.11 Working Group. Chuck is also a Frye Fellow (2005) and holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering Technology from Thomas A. Edison State College and a master’s degree in public management from Carnegie Mellon.
