For Our Guests with Special Needs

Seating

  • For the main commencement ceremony, special needs seating is available on the field. View our stadium and seating map [.pdf] for more information.
  • Tickets are NOT required and no prior arrangements are necessary. See a commencement staff member for access.
  • Up to 3 guests are permitted to sit with a special needs guest in these sections.

Sign Language

  • Interpreters will be at the Doctor’s Hooding ceremony and the main commencement ceremony.
  • They will be positioned in front of the special needs seating sections.  
  • Tickets are NOT required and no prior arrangements are necessary. See a commencement staff member for access.

Wheelchairs

We strongly encourage those guests who have difficulty walking to bring or rent a wheelchair for the weekend.

  • All campus buildings and parking areas are wheelchair accessible.
  • A ramp to the field is located near the stadium entrance near the University Center.

Wheelchair Rental

Sunday, May 18
8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Wean Commons, first floor, University Center

Wheelchair rental is $15; electric scooter is $40. 

For reservations, two-day rates, or hotel/home delivery, please call the Wheelchair Exchange at 412-241-5121.

Shuttles

  • Wheelchair accessible shuttles will be available on Saturday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Sunday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • The pick-up location will be announced soon. Guests can be dropped off at any on or off-campus location, including off-campus diploma ceremonies and hotels.
  • No prior arrangements are necessary.

Parking

  • All parking areas are wheelchair accessible.
  • On Sunday, the first floor of the East Campus Garage will be reserved for special needs guests. No prior arrangements are necessary. See a parking attendant for access.
