**Traffic Advisory**

Outbound Squirrel Hill Tunnels closed May 17 - 20

Please be aware that the eastbound Squirrel Hill Tunnels along I-376 East will be closed for construction from Friday, May 17 at 10 p.m. to Monday, May 20 at 6 a.m.

If you are traveling from the east to campus, this closure should not impact your route to campus. However, there may be additional traffic in the Oakland area as a result of people using the detour route. Departing from campus and heading east will be impacted. Expect delays and allow extra time for your post-commencement plans.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will detour traffic through Regent Square. 

Detour Directions from Carnegie Mellon's East Campus Garage to I-376 East

  • Turn right onto Forbes Avenue.
  • Turn right onto South Braddock Avenue.
  • You can access I-376 East in Regent Square.

Alternate Detour (in case of significant congestion)

  • Turn left onto Forbes Avenue.
  • Turn right onto Morewood Avenue.
  • Turn right onto Fifth Avenue and continue east. 
  • Turn right onto Penn Avenue and continue through Wilkinsburg. 
  • Make a slight right onto Ardmore Boulevard.
  • You can access I-376 East in Forest Hills.

Getting to Campus

From the North and Northeast

  • Take I-279 South to PA-28 South or I-579 South to cross the Veterans Bridge.
  • Follow signs toward I-376 East toward Monroeville. This will take you to the Boulevard of the Allies. 
  • Take the Boulevard of the Allies away from downtown Pittsburgh, into Schenley Park.
  • After crossing the bridge into the park, take the second ramp on the right (marked by a big orange sign saying "Oakland").
  • Follow the ramp and cross the Panther Hollow Bridge, then bear left at the three-way intersection and go past Phipps Conservatory.
  • Turn right on to Frew Street.
  • Turn left on to Tech Street. 
  • Turn right on to Margaret Morrison Street.
  • Turn left on to Forbes Avenue. 
  • This will take you directly to campus.  The entrance to the East Campus Garage is reached via a driveway on the left, just past the garage and opposite Devon Street.
  • If you'd prefer to park in the CIC Garage, continue on Forbes Avenue and make a right on to Morewood Avenue. 
  • Turn left on to Fifth Avenue.
  • Turn left on to Neville Street.
  • The entrance to the CIC Garage will be on your left.  A shuttle will be available to take you to Gesling Stadium.   

From the South and Airport area

  • Take I-376 East and continue through the Fort Pitt Tunnel.
  • Cross the bridge and take the right ramp to continue on I-376 East toward Monroeville.
  • Take Exit 72A Forbes Avenue/Oakland.
  • This will take you directly to campus. The entrance to the East Campus Garage is reached via a driveway on the right, just past the Forbes Avenue and Morewood Avenue intersection.
  • If you'd prefer to park in the CIC Garage, take Forbes Avenue to Craig Street and turn left.
  • Turn right on to Fifth Avenue.
  • Turn right on to Neville Street.
  • The entrance to the CIC Garage will be on your left.  A shuttle will be available to take you to Gesling Stadium.

From the East/Monroeville

  • Take I-376 West toward Pittsburgh.
  • Take Exit 74 Squirrel Hill.
  • Off the exit ramp, turn left on to Forward Avenue.
  • As the first traffic signal, bear left on to Murray Avenue.
  • Continue up the hill and turn left on to Forbes Avenue. (There will be a Rite-Aid on your left).
  • This will take you directly to campus. The entrance to the East Campus Garage is reached via a driveway on the left, just past the garage and opposite Devon Street.
  • If you'd prefer to park in the CIC Garage, continue on Forbes Avenue and make a right on to Morewood Avenue.
  • Turn left on to Fifth Avenue.
  • Turn left on to Neville Street.
  • The entrance to the CIC Garage will be on your left.  A shuttle will be available to take you to Gesling Stadium.

From the West/Ohio River Valley

  • Take PA-65 South, Ohio River Boulevard, toward downtown Pittsburgh.
  • As you pass Heinz Field, take the right lane toward I-376 East/Fort Pitt Bridge to cross the Fort Duquesne Bridge.
  • Get in the second lane from the right and follow signs toward I-376 East toward Monroeville.
  • Follow signs toward I-376 East toward Monroeville.
  • Take Exit 72A Forbes Avenue/Oakland.
  • This will take you directly to campus. The entrance to the East Campus Garage is reached via a driveway on the right, just past the Forbes Avenue and Morewood Avenue intersection.
  • If you'd prefer to park in the CIC Garage, take Forbes Avenue to Craig Street and turn left.
  • Turn right on to Fifth Avenue.
