Friday, May 13 *

2 p.m.

Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society Initiation Ceremony
McConomy Auditorium, first floor, Cohon University Center

  • Sponsors will send invitations directly to inductees.
  • Caps and gowns are required for graduates.
  • A reception will immediately follow in the Connan Room, first floor, Cohon Center

4:30 p.m.

2016 Senior Leadership Awards Ceremony
Rangos Hall, second floor, Cohon University Center

  • This invitation-only ceremony recognizes nominated seniors who have reflected upon their specific leadership contributions during their time at Carnegie Mellon University.
  • Doors open at 4 p.m.

7:30 p.m.

Business Administration (Master’s & Doctor’s) Diploma Ceremony

Honors Ceremonies
All ceremonies will take place on campus.

  • At these college-wide ceremonies, undergraduate students receiving university or college honors will be presented with their medallions and cords.

Human-Computer Interaction Institute (HCII) Undergraduate Commencement Presentation

  • This is a presentation for HCII graduates and their families and peers.

3:30 p.m.

Robing for All Doctor’s Hooding Ceremony Participants
Carnegie Music Hall Foyer, Carnegie Museum, 4400 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213 (off campus)

  • Robing is for doctor's candidates and faculty hooders. Guests should proceed directly to the ceremony.  

4:30 p.m.

Doctor's Hooding Ceremony
Carnegie Music Hall, Carnegie Museum, 4400 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213 (off campus)

  • Those graduates receiving their Ph.D.s will be individually hooded and recognized.  
  • Doors open at 3:30 p.m.
  • A reception will immediately follow the ceremony in the Carnegie Music Hall Foyer.

Carnegie Mellon Advising Resource Center (CMARC) Reception
Singleton Room, Room 401, Roberts Engineering Hall

Procession of Graduates

  • Ceremony participants will process from various locations on campus into Gesling Stadium.
  • All guests should be seated by this time!

11 a.m.

Main Commencement Ceremony
Gesling Stadium

  • The ceremony lasts approximately 90 minutes.
  • Tickets are not issued or required. Seating is first come, first served.
  • The ceremony takes place outdoors in Gesling Stadium, rain or shine! The stadium is NOT covered and there is no shade.
  • An indoor simulcast and a webcast will also be available.
