Sewing Club-CMWA - Carnegie Mellon University

CMWA Sewing Club

The Sewing Group of the Women's Association started in about 1924 and has continued since. They made bandages at one point for hospitals and since 1995 have been sewing various items for Harmarville Rehabilitation Center (now Healthsouth). The Sewing Club has made wheelchair bags, bibs, and are now making quilted laprobes. Every patient who enters Healthsouth is given a laprobe. The fabric the club uses is donated by members and others. Needless to say we do need fabric donations.

We meet once a month during the academic year on a Monday. Each month one member brings a dessert to share as a treat. We usually celebrate the end of the year by having a potluck luncheon after we sew.

All meetings will take place at 9:30 AM at the Squirrel Hill home of Alice Young. New members of the sewing group are always welcome. Please contact Alice Young to join the CMWA Sewing Club or to donate fabric.
