Student Stories
At Carnegie Mellon University, our students dream big and follow their passions with intensity, just as they have for more than 100 years.
Matthew Nuernberger (A’11)
“I want to reinvigorate the stage
for mainstream audiences.”
Thanks to a jump-start from Carnegie Mellon University’s Playground Festival of Student Work, Matthew Nuernberger has taken student-produced shows to Chicago, New York and Martha’s Vineyard. But that’s just the beginning of a bigger effort to create “unforgettable and alive productions that bring audiences back to the stage.” He credits Carnegie Mellon Drama faculty for demanding that artists bring forth their most truthful work, allowing the artists to discover what they bring to the table that no one else can.
