Reorder Left Navigation

  1. Start by selecting the main website folder in the folder structure on the left. You should see all of the contents (folders and files) displayed in alphabetical order (folders first, then files) in the main window to the right.
  2. Click on the Order tab near the top.  This will sort the folders and files by their current chronological order and will make it easier to reorder the items in the sequence you desire.

  3. There are two methods to reorder items:
    • Drag and drop the item to its new placement - Simply hold your mouse cursor next to the folder or file until the cursor changes to an up/down arrow.  Click and hold down the mouse button and drag the folder up or down to move it to a new placement.  You'll notice the order number will automatically update as you change an item's placement.

    • Use the up/down arrows - On the far right of each item you'll see a selection of up and down arrows under the Actions tab. Click on the appropriate arrow to move the folder or file to its new placement.

You do not need to save anything as the changes are made immediately.  However, you will need to republish the parent folder of all of the pages that should have its left navigation updated to reflect the new order. As a reminder, large publishing jobs should be done after hours.

Note: Folders and files that are not intended to be part of the left navigation menu (i.e., designated by you to be hidden or not indexed) will still have an order placement assigned to them, however they will simply be disregarded when the left navigation is displayed.  You may sort hidden items to the bottom of the list if it makes it easier to manage.
