Does a student have to take the C-MITES EXPLORE test in order to participate in the Summer Program?
No, but first priority for placement in a class will be given to those who have taken the test. Students who have taken the C-MITES EXPLORE test pay a discounted price for classes. Only about 15% of the Summer Program students have not taken the EXPLORE test.
Can a student take more than one summer class?
Yes.
Do students taking the EXPLORE test receive discounts for each class?
Yes.
Are students selected for the Summer Program on a first-come, first-served basis?
No. All applications that are submitted by the deadline are given full consideration by the selection committee.
Is financial aid available?
Yes, based on financial need. See the Summer Program Application.
When will students receive notification about the next Summer Program?
Summer Program brochures are usually mailed in February. Sign up for the C-MITES email list (on the C-MITES homepage) to receive an email notification.
Where are summer classes?
At many locations throughout Pennsylvania. See the classes link on the Summer Program page.
What grade level should be used when applying for the Summer Program?
Use the current grade level as of April. Do not use the next year's grade level.
If a student applies but does not get placed in a Summer Program class, does he get a refund for the application fee?
No. The application fee covers the cost of processing the application.
My child wants to apply for the Summer Program but we have not received the EXPLORE scores. What should we do?
Please wait until the scores arrive so you can mail a completed application. You should receive the scores from ACT before the Summer Program applicaion deadline.
My child took the qualifying test but we've misplaced the scores. What should we do?
Call the C-MITES office and ask for the report to be re-mailed (this costs $5 for processing).
Are full-day programs available?
Yes. We have some classes that meet from 9am - 4pm. Some sites have morning classes plus optional afternoon programs.
