What is the Elementary Student Talent Search?
Identify academically talented 3rd through 6th graders by giving them
a test designed for 8th graders.
Eligibility (meet at least one criterion):
- Scoring at the 95th percentile or above on at least one section of a standardized test such as
the Stanford Achievement Test
- Enrolled in school's gifted program
- Parent nomination
- Student is performing at the top 5% of his or her class
Take EXPLORE, an 8th-grade level test:
- Two hours in length
- Multiple-choice
- Math, Science, English and Reading
Benefits:
- Assist in curriculum modifications and programming
- Assess academic strengths
- First consideration for classes and reduced tuition for C-MITES Summer Program
- Receive C-MITES literature
Important Dates:
- November 29, 2008 - deadline to receive discounted rate
- December 12, 2008 - final deadline for January testing
- January 16, 2009 - final deadline for February testing
- January 24, January 25 and February 21, 2009 - test dates (choose one)
C-MITES Talent Search test sites have been established at many schools throughout Pennsylvania.

This fee covers cost of testing, packets of educational materials and resources sent to students, and a
subscription to the C-MITES newsletter.
