Membership Levels
Most countries and major metropolitan areas have at least one CMAC Chairperson to help coordinate college fair participation with local members and to communicate with the Office of Admission regarding important events in the Chairperson's area.
Member
As a CMAC member, remember that your personal and professional life comes first. However, one goal of the organization is to have every CMAC member participate in some series of CMAC related activities during each admission cycle. Responsibilities of members in CMAC include:
- Having a thorough understanding of Carnegie Mellon and its colleges and departments, its current student body, and recent history.
- Projecting the mission of the university and exhibit sound professional attitudes and good ethical judgment when working with prospective students, their parents and high school representatives.
- Be willing to relinquish their membership when they can no longer fulfill the duties described above.
Chairperson
CMAC Chairpersons must adhere to the principles described above. Additionally, they must fulfill the following responsibilities:
- Monitor the activities of their CMAC area, and must maintain regular contact with the Office of Admission about membership in their area.
- Maintain records of the membership in their area.
- Disseminate inquiry, applicant and deposit lists.
- Assist the Office of Admission by securing alumni who live in their area to help conduct CMAC activities when there are no regular members able to perform the task(s).
- Contact with the new members in their area.
