Dynamics launches LifeCode; expands beyond payment cards

Dynamics is taking their next generation payment card technology and applying it in a new area — personal health information.

Specifically, the company has created LifeCode, a card that can help emergency responders access health information as provided by the card holder.

The new product goes on sale Tuesday at Dynamics’ website and at select General Nutrition Centers stores as well as GNC.com.

LifeCode includes a card, sleeve and subscription to the service. Users carry the card attached to their driver’s license with the LifeCode sleeve. If they are in an accident or become ill and unable to communicate with emergency responders, the EMT can grab the card, since they are already looking for a person’s ID, and push the button on the card to get a unique code.

The code is entered into the LifeCode secure website and the person’s health history can be accessed, which can help EMTs determine the best course of action.

The card, which creates a unique code each time it is used, builds on what the company already is doing in the payment industry.

“(We’re) producing the cards for payment industries and we asked ourselves, ‘Is there any other way our technology could impact consumers’ lives?’” CEO Jeff Mullen said.
