Architecture

The School of Architecture has offered a professional bachelor of architecture degree program since its founding in 1904. The program's goal is to provide students with creative, technical, environmental and historical competence.

The School also offers three prestigious graduate degree programs focused on computational design and building performance: the Master of Building Science, the Master of Science in Architecture and the Doctor of Philosophy in Architecture.

Art

The School of Art offers a progressive undergraduate program designed to educate artists to engage a complex, rapidly changing global culture. Extensive contemporary studios allow for a wide range of media offerings, from traditional to highly contemporary.

Design

In the School of Design, undergraduates can concentrate on either communication design where they learn effective presentation of ideas and information by means of type and image or industrial design where they concentrate on producing products, devices and designs that support and enhance human interactions.

Graduate students can earn a degree in interaction design, studying the way people use and interact with technology, or communication planning and design, a joint program with the Department of English that explores the verbal and visual aspects of communication design.

Drama

The School of Drama at Carnegie Mellon University is the oldest degree-granting drama program in the United States, offering comprehensive, professional training since its foundation in 1914. The undergraduate program is an intensive four-year conservatory in acting, directing, design and performance technology & management.

For graduate students, the School of Drama offers options in dramatic writing, directing, design (costume, scenic and lighting) and performance technology & management.

Music

The School of Music at Carnegie Mellon offers a comprehensive undergraduate curriculum with programs leading to degrees in performance and composition. With the addition of a fifth year, graduates can also receive certification in music education. Certification in Dalcroze Eurythmics, or piano pedagogy is also available. Each degree program is based on a solid foundation of performance and musicianship with intense focus on preparation for a professional career in music.

The graduate program in Music offers the Master of Music in performance, conducting and composition.
