LAVINA JADHWANI (LD '05/MAM '06) was awarded a prestigious LMDA Dramaturgy Residency for her work with the Silk Road Theatre Company in Chicago. She is also directing for the Rasaka Theatre Company, and just landed a job in the Marketing Department at the Steppenwolf!

GREG VAN HORN (ENGLISH '07) has received a great dramaturgical honor: he was awarded first alternate for the Northeastern Region KC/ACTF competition for his casebook for our production of AFTER MISS JULIE.

TIM ISRAEL (DTURG '08) was offered a summer dramaturgy internship at the Rebel Theatre Company in New York City.

Danny Bernardy (03) plays a leading role in a modern adaptation of IPHENGNIA AT AULIS called IPHENGNIA CRASH LANDS FALLS ON THE NEON SHELL THAT WAS ONCE HER HEART (a rave fable) in Greece. He returns in September to open the play at the Soho Walker Space.

Jesmille Darbouze (06) has been cast in the Theatreworks/USA tour of "If you give a Mouse a Cookie and Other Stories" which is an Equity tour for children/schools Kevin Del Aguila, the writer of "Alter Boys" is directing.

Claire Beckman played Lady Macbeth at Shakespeare in Rowayton Connecticut; in July she produced The Great White Hope (and played Ellie) for Celebrate Brooklyn with her company Brave New World Rep.

Shannon Harvey (’04) is currently one of the first class of graduate students at the new Carnegie Mellon ETC program in Adelaide, South Australia.  He and a group of six other students are creating virtual interactive scenery for a big top performance by a children's circus.  

Sven Miller (05) has been selected by the German National Theatre Weimar in collaboration with the German Culture Foundation to direct My God Rides a Skatebooard - Theatre for Whom, really? in the spring of 2007. This will be a devised theatre piece, developed collaboratively with an ensemble of professional actors and non-actors through an intensive period of community outreach to explore the function and responsibility of institutionalized theatre towards its public, to interest non-traditional audiences in theatre and the process of making it and to pose the challenge of how traditional theatre needs to change to reflect the experiences and lives of the people in the community. His relationship started with the National Theatre in Weimar in the spring of 2005 while being on a Carnegie Mellon sponsored trip to Germany.

THEATER

John Tufts (’03) was cast in three pivotal roles for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s 2007 season. He will be playing Yasha in The Cherry Orchard; Ferdinand in The Tempest; and Romeo in Romeo and Juliet.

Shashanah Newman (’04) is currently playing Miranda in the ongoing off-Broadway show “Tempest Tossed Fools” at the Manhattan Ensemble Theatre with the Millennium Talent Group. She is also understudying Helena in their production of “Fools in Love (a doo-wop Midsummer.)”

Ryan Young (04) continues his work as a company member at the Shakespeare Theater in Washington D.C in LOVES LABORS LOST and will perform for the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon this summer in England.

Angela Lin (03) is in a new Off-Broadway play called Sake with the Haiku Geisha ; its Gotham Stage Company's inaugural production,  playing at the Perry Street Theatre.

Tamilla Woodard directs VALIANT featuring Tami Dixon and Sharahn LaRue multimedia docu-drama presented by The Unofficial New York Yale Cabaret Feb 24th-March 11th. Valiant is a multi-media docu-drama featuring thirteen women's word-for-word accounts.

Michael McKean has a featured role in Broadway’s revival of PAJAMA GAME starring Harry Connick Jr.

Sutton Foster and Christian Borle (95) were both part of an untitled musical by Patti Griffin and Keith Bunin presented at Joe's Pub Jan. 30, Feb. 6 and Feb. 13, 2006.  Sutton is also featured in The Drowsy Chaperon now previewing on Broadway.  Christian continue in Broadway’s SPAMALOT.

Katie Finneran will star in the upcoming world premiere presentation of Greg Kotis' new comedy Pig Farm directed by John Rando.

Brad Dean (93) has been cast in the tour of Monty Python's Spamalot, which begins performances March 7 at Boston's Colonial Theatre. The company will also feature Craig Waletzko.

Justin Brill (00) has gone on for a number of roles including the part of Mark for Broadway’s RENT.

Renee Elise Goldsberry (93) plays the leading role of Nettie in THE COLOR PURPLE on Broadway; she also plays a recurring character on ONE LIFE TO LIVE.  She was interviewed in the New York Times  (December 23) about her career.

Taifa Harris (99) did a one-woman show about Harriet Tubman with the Acting Company called HARRIET RETURNS.

Felicia Bell is doing a staged reading of the play, Beachwood Drive, at the Abingdon Theatre in New York.

Leigh Silverman is directing JUMP/CUT off Broadway and WELL with Lisa Kron on Broadway this season.  She has been named as a new talent to watch in a New York Times article on Sunday, March 26.  Leigh is apparently the youngest person to direct on Broadway.

Audra Blaser (04) is playing Pinky Tuscadero in "HAPPY DAYS"  at Garry Marshall’s Falcon Theater in Burbank. Rory O'Malley (03) also stars in  it.

Matt Scott (04) has joined the Broadway company of JERSEY BOYS. He is covering three roles in the show and has gone on several times already.

Pablo Schreiber (00) is in Lincoln Center Theater's revival of Clifford Odets' AWAKE AND SING!" in the spring. It will begin previews March 23 at the Belasco Theater and opens April 17.

J. D. Goldblatt (04) was featured in ONCE ON THIS ISLAND in Baltimore.  This Spring he’ll play the leading role in JELLY’S LAST JAM for the Alliance Theater in Atlanta.  Kent Gash is directing.  Billy Porter (91) is also featured.

Juan Rivera (97) is playing LeBron in THE WINTER’S TALE for the Ashland Shakespeare Festival in Oregon.

Josh Gad (03) booked a featured role in Broadway’s 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE.

Ben Pelteson (03) Just finished The Mines of Sulphur at NY City Opera at Lincoln Center and was offered a role in The Murder of Isaac at Centerstage in Baltimore.

Michael Hollick (95) is in the ensemble for the new Broadway Disney TARZAN opening May 2006.

Phebe Taylor (99) performed in a sold out run of URINETOWN. She joined a new show for the Pushcart Players--PETER AND THE WOLF--and then traveled to California with them for a tour of several weeks.

Randy Kovitz performed a role in a workshop production of Criminal  Genius, by George F. Walker.  He also appeared in EXONERATED by Erik Jensen (92) at the Playhouse in Pittsburgh.

Renee Blinkwolt (04) was Production Stage Managing The Revenger's Tragedy for the Red Bull Theater Company at the Culture Project which   featured the talents of Renee Auberjoinois .  (Also Atheists Tragedy featured  Sam Tsoutsouvas and Mary Bacon.)  She went on to do the same for "The Black & White Blues" for Martian Entertainment - an off Broadway cabaret she’s also PSMing AJAX: 100% Fun for Lightbox. She also landed the PSM position at Ensemble Studio Theater for their Sloan Project Mainstage production of Relativity by Cassandra Wilson.

Carlos Armesto was awarded the Princess Grace Award for Directing .  He’s full time with EST in New York.  (Alan Cumming gave him the award.)

Sven Miller, 3rd year graduate director, is currently directing Edward
Albee's The Goat or Who is Sylvia at the German National Theatre in
Weimar. The show is scheduled to open on March 11 at the E-Werk in Weimar, Germany.

Kali Rocha (93) appeared on "Grey's Anatomy" on the 29th of January as Dr. Sydney Heron. Her sitcom "Teachers" will air in March on Thursdays at 9:30 on NBC; she plays the high school principal.

Roberta Valderama (00) shot a pilot for SONY and TBS called TEN ITEMS OR LESS

Jonathan Monk (04) is featured on an international commercial for Pepsi.

Michael McMillian (02) shot a pilot for TNT called SAVED He also did an episode of Without a Trace and a slot on the upcoming HBO series BIG LOVE.

Jack Plotnick (91) a TV show he co-created and star in LOVESPRING got picked up for 6 episodes by LIFETIME, and a film he’s in STAY which made it into the Dramatic Competition at SUNDANCE!

Felicia Bell shot a guest starring role on Law & Order SVU which is scheduled to air April 4th.

Ramon deOcampo (98) recently recorded a new book for Recorded Books inc. called "Freaks! Alive, on the Inside." He’s shooting his fifth and sixth WEST WING episodes before flying to Vancouver to shoot the last of the KILLER INSTINCT series.

The book for that show was written by Mel Shaprio, a former Head of Carnegie Mellon's Drama Department.

Mike Messer (93) and his The Dirty Sock Funtime Band is doing a benefit for kids involved in the tsunami disaster. He’s also directing REDIAL for the Jewelbox Theater at the Workshop Theater CO.

Rob Marshall has accepted the ABBOT, a revered directing award from the Society of Stage Directors and choreographers.  He was featured in the New York Times on Sunday, February 5 in an article concerning his film MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA now in post production.

Megan Hilty (04) steps into Broadway's WICKED (in the the role of Glinda) along with Rue McClanahan and Ben Vereen this May.

THEATER

Renee Blinkwolt (04) is currently directing and producing a new work by CMU 3rd year grad playwright, Craig J Weiner. THE HOME FOR LOST BOYS production team includes CMU alums: Evan O'Brient, Marie Lynn Wagner, M. Lauren Shepherd, Elizabeth S. Coleman, Seth Fisher, Jaime McCarthy, and Rhyn McLemore.

Laura Morache (03) will play Lady Anne in "Richard III" at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival next season, and a whole slew of devils and visions in "Dr. Faustus", as well as Maragarita in "Napoli Millinaria."

John Tufts (03) will return for a second season at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival as well. He'll be in "The Philanderer" and "Belles Stratagem."

J. D. Goldblatt (04) is playing VALENTINE in the ACTING COMPANY'S production of TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA on a national tour and a New York run. He was also featured in a reading of a new musical, RESPECT, at the Public Theater in New York, directed by Kent Gash.

Jonathan Monk (04) and Mike Messer (93) are featured in a musical version of Shakespeare's AS YOU LIKE IT, called "LIKE YOU LIKE IT - THE MUSICAL" for the NEW YORK MUSICAL THEATRE FESTIVAL; it opens September 26th at the BECKETT on Theatre Row.

Sarah Glendening (04) has been cast in the Broadway production of GOOD VIBRATIONS in an understudy role and in the chorus. David Larsen (02) has been cast in the leading part. It will open at the Eugene O'Neill Theater this Fall.

John Scherer is featured in BROADWAY at the Pittsburgh Public Theater this fall.

Telly Leung (02) appeared in FOOTLOOSE and JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR at the Sacramento Music Circus this summer. Earlier he was in THE KING AND I with Lou Diamond Phillips. He'll appear in PACIFIC OVERTURES on Broadway this fall.

Michael Fuller (92) played a leading role for St Vincent's Summer Theater in THE FOREIGNER. He appeared in VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE at the Pittsburgh Playhouse this Fall. (It was directed by Robert Miller, son of Arthur Miller)

Lea Coco (01) and Michael McMillian (02) have been cast in OUTLYING ISLANDS for the City Theater Company in Pittsburgh.

Billy Porter and Vanita Harbor were both featured in DREAMGIRLS for the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera in August.

Jeff Edgerton directed BLOOD OF THE BEAR, by Maureen McGranaghan at THE WORKSHOP THEATER COMPANY.

Brian Kulick will direct Marivaux's "The False Servant" (starring F. Murray Abraham March-May), for The Classic Stage Co.

Dan Amboyer (06) was covering King Richard II and Richard Vernon in HENRY IV. He went on this summer for an ailing actor in addition to his regular roles in MY FAIR LADY and the Green Show.

Stuart Carden directed BIG LOVE at the Open Stage Theater in Pittsburgh this summer.

Megan Hilty (04) has her own Cabaret for BROADWAY SPOLIGHTS on Nov 1. She performed a mini performance of WICKED in Orlando, Florida recently.

Matt Scott (04) did a reading of a new Musical HAPPY ANNIVERSARY at the York Theater.

Holly Hunter took part in a free staged reading of ONLY WE WHO GUARD THE MYSTERY SHALL BE UNHAPPY by Tony Kushner. She played Laura Bush at the New York Theater Workshop.

Cote de Pablo (00) finished a workshop for a musical based on the movie the MAMBO KINGS.

Greg Coughlin (06) had a leading role in HOLLER for Bricolage in Pittsburgh. Stephanie Kinch was the Stage Manager.

Clark Perry (03) staged readings of his play, "The Planet on 158th Street" at Maryland's Round House Theatre and NYC's Epiphany Theater. His one-act,"The Boy in the Bed," premiered at the 10th Annual NYC 15-Minute Play Festival, starring Mitch Jarvis (MT '02) and directed by S. Caden Hethorn (D '03).

Donna Lynn Champlin (93) is in MEET JOHN DOE at the New York Musical Theatre Festival.

Richard Kalinoski is presenting his play, BEAST ON THE MOON, on Broadway this season.

Leo Evens (02) is working on a new show in the Music Theatre Festival, THE TAXI CABARET, for the Prospect Theatre Company at Primary Stages. October 4th thru November 14th, he'll do SHOWTUNE, a Jerry Herman show in Vero Beach, FL.

Mike Hollick (95) closed in De La Guarda after a four-year career with it. He then went on to do a showcase of a two person play which he co-wrote.

Taifa Harris (99) will be doing a concert reading of a new rock musical with Phoebe Snow called FALLEN ANGEL, THE MUSICAL, for The Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor NY.

Tom Lee (94) La MaMa E.T.C. presents the world premiere of Hoplite Diary EPIC PUPPET THEATRE BY TOM LEE September 30 to October 3, 2004.

Pilar Milhollen (04) is on a national tour of EVITA starrng Bradley Dean (93) and featuring Eilenn Kaden (92).

Tony McKay's play THE QUOTER is being read at the Ensemble Studio Theater, 549 W. 52nd St. on October 23rd at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday October 24th at 2:00 p.m. Alums Lexy Fridell (04), Jonathan Putterman (03) and Ben Pelteson (03) complete the cast. Gary Kline directs.

Braden Moran (01) toured with the Montana Shakespeare Company this summer in ROMEO & JULIET.

Bridget Berger (00), Suzanne Cerreta (99), Brian Hoffman (01),Michael LiDondici(01) John Cassel, Ken Kaissar, Amy Singer, and Rachel Smith are all part of The Epiphany Theater Company's SERIOUSLY SKETCH at the Blue Heron Arts Center in New York.

Sutton Foster opens in LITTLE WOMEN on Broadway this winter.

FILM

Michael Oberlander is currently starring opposite Blake Robbins in the feature film, "Alice", and will be guest-starring in Sept. on the series premiere of David E. Kelly's new fall offering - "Boston Legal".

Marcus Chait (97) is featured in MILLION DOLLAR BABY directed by and co-starring Clint Eastwood. Marcus plays the brother of Hillary Swank's character; it will be released in the Fall of 2005.

James Babson (94) was cast in a leading role in an experimental film about life on a space station!

Katie Mixon (03) will star in two films this year. ZOMBIE PROM is a musical short which starts Ru Paul; she also shares the starring role in DOC with Edie Falco. It films in Austin this fall.

Seth Fisher (04) acted in an industrial film for the Phizer corporation this summer.

Ethan Hova (06) has a featured role in Frick Weber's Keeping Them Blind.

Ken Chien (99) production managed MTV's The Real World - San Diego earlier this year and
is now production manager for the new season in Philadelphia. Season is due to air in early September on MTV.

Mike Messer (93) is in The DIRTY SOCK FUNTIME BAND and was on ABC news in New York on Thursday, August 5th .

Mark Silverberg (04) will appear on E.R. this season beginning Oct 14 and shows up as an alien on ENTRERPRISE on October 15th!

Ty Mitchell (01) recently shot the pilot episode of WEEDS, for Showtime, starring Mary-Louise Parker. He is also featured in a SONY commercial for the new WEGA televisions.

Bret Benner (92) has been nominated for an ARTIOS AWARD for his work as a casting director on the NBC -TV Show SCRUBS. The awards will be announced on October 12.

Fred Koehler (97) appeared once again on the HBO show OZ even though his character was "killed off" three seasons ago !

Rebecca Metz (96) shot a guest star role on Gilmore Girls, playing Lorelai Gilmore's accountant, Ann. It should air around Halloween. She also recently shot roles on two NBC mid-season replacements, The Medium, a one-hour drama acting opposite Patricia Arquette, and a half-hour comedy called Crazy For You.

Adam Donsik (98) has a featured role in First Daughter beginning September 24th He'll also be on Dr Vegas for CBS 10pm that same night!
