Greg Lowry Receives Steven J. Fenves Award for Systems Research

Professor Greg Lowry has been selected to receive one of two 2011 Steven J. Fenves Awards for Systems Research.  Raj Rajkumar, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, will also receive an award.

The Steven J. Fenves Award for Systems Research is presented annually to individuals for their contributions to systems research in areas that are relevant to the Carnegie Mellon University College of Engineering and the Institute for Complex Engineered Systems (ICES).

Professor Lowry is recognized for his development of polymer-coated, nanoscale zero-valent iron particles and demonstration of their effectiveness for remediation of chlorinated organic liquid contaminants in
groundwater systems, and for elucidation of the fate, transport, and toxicity of engineered nanoparticles in the environment.
