Mario Berges Receives INTEC Distinguished Alumni Award

Mario Berges, Assistant Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, has been selected to receive a 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award by the Instituto Tecnologico de Santo Domingo (INTEC). This award was established as a way for INTEC to recognize alumni who have achieved success in their areas and whose contributions, be they academic, entrepreneurial, cultural, political or artistic, have followed a trajectory with evident social impact. Candidates are nominated each year by the faculty, staff, students and/or organizations at INTEC, in four different areas, and then evaluated by a jury to determine the awardees.

Professor Berges received his B.S. in Civil Engineering and Graduate Certificate in Construction Management from INTEC. He completed his M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, and joined the CEE faculty in fall 2010.
