Dual Degree Program with Tepper School of Business

The dual Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering (MSCEE) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program is a 2.5 year (5 semester) program which starts in the fall semester each year. It is designed for students with B.S. degrees in engineering but students with non-engineering backgrounds may also apply. This dual degree offers the opportunity to develop technical and managerial skills in the management of civil and environmental engineering organizations, projects and systems, as well as business management. This program is offered by the Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) Department of the Carnegie Institute of Technology (CIT) and the Tepper School of Business.

  • applicants should send an application to both departments
  • applicants must satisfy the admission requirements of the MBA and MSCEE programs
  • application deadline is the same as for regular master's programs
  • both programs will accept both GMAT and/or the GRE, so a dual applicant need only take one of the tests to apply to the dual program. 
  • dual degree students must take a minimum of 162 units of MBA courses which includes all required courses, one concentration, an analytical depth requirement of two electives from a provided list of courses, all Leadership Assessment workshops, a capstone course, along with the Capstone Experience Week.
  • dual degree students must take a minimum of 96 units in CEE. The MSCEE degree program requirements can be found by clicking here.
  • the program is designed so that student spend their first year at Tepper, their second year in CEE, and last semester at Tepper
