Ralph Horgan: Associate Vice Provost

Ralph Horgan began employment at Carnegie Mellon University on April 4, 2005 as the Associate Vice Provost of the Campus Design & Facility Development department. His department is responsible for campus facility and real estate planning, design, renovation and construction. CDFD, with 10 project management professionals, is responsible for all design and construction projects on the Carnegie Mellon campus, ranging from lab, classroom and dormitory renovations to new construction.  Mr. Horgan also oversees the evolution of Carnegie Mellon’s master campus space plan for more than 4.1 million square feet of academic, research support, parking and auxiliary facilities on Carnegie Mellon’s main campus in Pittsburgh.

Prior to joining Carnegie Mellon, Mr. Horgan was executive director of the Pittsburgh Parking Authority for seven years. In that capacity, he was responsible for a $32 million organization of more than 150 employees.  He worked closely and partnered with developers and community groups to stimulate private investments downtown and in various Pittsburgh neighborhoods.
