This offer policy is in place to provide students with sufficient time to consider offers of employment, as well as to minimize incidents of reneging (pursuing and accepting an employment offer after accepting another offer). It has been our experience that students who feel undue pressure to make an employment decision are often more prone to renege after accepting; adhering to the timeframes detailed in the offer policy is therefore in the best interests of both employers and students. If you have any questions regarding this policy, please contact Kevin Monahan, Associate Dean for Career
and Professional Development.
Employers conducting interviews in the fall semester must give students until the first business day of December to respond to an offer, without pressure to respond on an earlier date. Students interviewing on or after the first business day of December should be given three weeks to respond to an offer.
Employers conducting interviews in the spring semester must give students three weeks to respond to an offer, without pressure to respond on an earlier date.
Offers to Summer Interns:
Employers who give an offer for internship or full-time employment to a student who has had a summer internship with the employer must give students until the first business day of November to respond to an offer, without pressure to respond on an earlier date.
In all cases, employers must give students at least 3 weeks to make a decision.
